Today I did some research on key word cost per click and discovered something very interesting about out society. According to the web site I searched the number one key word by cost is “online life assurance quotes.” This key word will set you back $54.14 per click. The number six most costly key word is “cheap life assurance quote” which costs $52.63. I have to be honest with you, I have no idea what life assurance may be or how anyone can guarantee to assure your life...but there it is! There is always someone willing to pay for anything.
Unfortunately, driving under the influence ranks high in certain states because out of the top 20 key words I found, scottsdale dui lawyer ($52.37), dui phoenix arizona ($51.89), tampa dui lawyers ($51.84), and san diego dui defense ($51.38) ranked in the top 20 key words.
The state of the economy is certainly reflected in the top key words because getting information about consolidating student loans and forbearance ranks high as well. The key word, education student loan consolidation ($51.98) ranked number eleven, while consolidation student loan ($52.52) came in at number two.
I consider myself first a writer but I really would like to make money. Getting a handle on the top key words is a great indicator about what topics I should be writing about. There were many more key words in this top dollar list. Even the number 100 key word on the list was “mesothelioma adsense” at $49.13.
This list reflects the primary interest of society at this point in time. This is merely a snap shot of the world today. Tomorrow things may be very different depending on current events. All top dollar key words reflect a certain amount of fear about our world and environment.
1. life insurance
2. escaping the penalty for driving under the influence
3. managing and paying off student loans
4. mesothelioma (disease caused by exposure to asbestos)
This article is a reflective look at the way to write and make money writing on topics most interesting to the public. I know there are many more topics available with a bit of research that will pay well. It is also a reflective look at the state of society today and a blatant bid to use key words to increase my earning potential. I hope this information is helpful.

Smireles, I had no idea about key words with those amounts. I use google keywords for help but I've haven't signed up for ad words. I appreciate your hub and I guess I will keep learning slowly how to have an income.

these are some expensive key words if you are on the purchasing end. By that I mean advertising. I was shocked that someone would pay that much for one click, but I guess those companies find it pays. I am still learning, too.

I have tried to write a few hubs that have high-paying key words but they didn't really pan out for me. Not sure what I'm doing wrong - would be nice to make a little extra but I try to focus more on writing.
Cari Jean, I think it likely that the competition is too high on high dollar key words. Best to just make sure your key words accurately reflect the content of your writing. I have been reviewing the keywords of my old articles to update them. It takes time and patience. Keep hubbing!

Of course if there are a gazillion people searching a keyword, and there are 1/2 a gazillion sites using that word, it may be pointless to write around that key word. I like the idea of going for something that will have a bit less competition, and go for evergreen content. But don't look at me. I ain't gettin' rich here. haha.
Dolores, you are absolutely right! Those key words are expensive and there is a lot of competition. For myself, I would get really bored writing about dui or insurance. I have done that and I do not like it. Oh...I ain't gettin' rich either! hahahahahahah!
